Tess was found on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in a farmer's pasture
with his sheep nicely herded into the corner. She was rescued from the
shelter by Donna McDonald who patiently tried to find Tess's real family.
When she couldn't find them, she graciously let me adopt Tess as Mikki's
replacement for Search and Rescue. She has been checked out by seasoned
search dog handlers and pronounced a good candidate. Now, if I could just
get someone to work with me.
The following picture was taken in 2002. She was found already trained for
obedience - both voice and hand signals - and she accepts anything I've asked of
her. Here she is sitting on my home-made cat walk. She'll go onto it
from across the yard, working only from voice command.
